Origin Red Rocks Hotel Breaks Ground At Gateway Village, Construction Begins for 2018 Completion

DENVER April 5, 2017 — Today, Denver-based commercial real estate firm Northstar Commercial Partners announced the ground breaking for Origin Red Rocks, a boutique hotel located on +3-acre land parcel an investment entity of Northstar sold to the Thrash Group.

The 123-room, four-story hotel will be the southern anchor to the +22-acre Gateway Village subdivision, and is set to be the closest accommodations for visitors to one of Colorado’s most popular entertainment venues, Red Rocks Amphitheater. Gateway Village is conveniently located at I-70 Exit 259 and Highway 40, just south of the I-70 and 470 junction. Northstar is the master developer for the Gateway Village subdivision.

“We’re thrilled to help lead the way on something as innovative and exciting as this new boutique hotel space, to help serve visitors to the area. Red Rocks is synonymous with Colorado and holds a special place in all of our hearts,” said Brian Watson, Chairman & CEO of Northstar.

“As local neighbors, we’re honored to be a part of bringing additional jobs and opportunity to this area for many people, as well as to help create a place that will allow folks to stay near and enjoy the Red Rocks experience all the more,” Watson concluded. “This will also serve many people visiting the West Side of Denver, Golden, Morrison, and Littleton, as they will be at the gateway to the Rocky Mountains along I70 and Morrison Road.”

Origin Red Rocks is an “experience driven concept,” according to Walker Thrash of Thrash Group. Tryba Architects is designing the hotel.

Thrash Group and Northstar worked closely with the City of Golden and the local Planning Commission, who gave the hotel a green light in 2016.

“The City of Golden and members of the Planning Commission have been helpful to work with,” said Don Marcotte, Director of Development at Northstar.

“They’ve been exceptional throughout the entire process and Northstar is grateful for their partnership and strong relationship to the community.”

Marcotte explained that the Gateway Village location for Origin Red Rocks could not be better for locals and visitors alike, due to its close proximity to Red Rocks Amphitheater, Bandimere Raceway, Coors Brewing Company and various local businesses, The Colorado School of Mines, and the Mountains.

The hotel will go vertical in the coming months and is set to be completed in time for the 2018 summer music season at Red Rocks.

Northstar will continue to develop Gateway Village around Origin Red Rocks. Last summer, Northstar broke ground on the new Avalanche Harley-Davidson dealership as the northern anchor to Gateway Village, and is planning a approx. 16,000 new retail building that will offer smaller spaces for lease to retailers, food service, etc. There are also several pad sites remaining for sale, and they plan to secure companies and restaurants who wish to lease our build facilities for their own use.
